COMMUNITY SERVICE
About This Program
Nearly every day after school, there are community service opportunities available through EDGE@Work’s Community Service Program. This is the only program of its kind in the area, and it provides coordination as well as transportation and supervision while teens serve the under-resourced in their own community.
**Community Service Forms (separate from teen center registration) are required from each teen in order to serve with us, click this link to register. These must be submitted to volunteer and ride in the EDGE van.
EDGE@WORK Cafe: Become an EDGE “barista” by working in cafe and serving and learning skills ranging from customer service to cash and inventory management!
EDGE@EAST Opportunities

- Animal Adoption Foundation: Our caring volunteers help keep our facilities clean and our animals socialized. This enables us to provide a safe and happy haven for our special friends.
- Students will develop the following skills:
- Animal care
- Building Maintenance
- Logistics/Delegation
- Teamwork
Every 4th Wednesday from 3:00pm-6:00pm (this includes drive time, service time is 2 hours)
- Clutter2Care: Clutter 2 Care began in 2018 as a community yard sale to earn money for orphan outreach efforts in Haiti. In 2019, we changed our focus to serving at-risk low-income children right here in Southwest Ohio. We are a family-owned registered nonprofit 501c3 with 100% of all profits going out into our community.

Every 3rd Tuesday from 3:00pm-6:00pm (this includes drive time, service time is 2 hours)
- Hamilton Urban Gardens (HUGS): HUGS is a licensed nonprofit 501c3 organization registered to operate in Ohio. We have operated in Hamilton since 2012. We have installed dozens of organic urban gardens, participated in farmers markets, and partnered with local schools, community agencies, universities, and civic organizations serving those located in a food desert. Our Mission is to design, create, implement and sustain a year-round local food system in the Greater Hamilton, Ohio Metropolitan Area. Including: growing, processing, and distributing organic locally grown food; and educating the citizens of Butler County on the health benefits of a sustainable Local Food System.

Every 4th Monday from 3:00pm-6:00pm
- Hope House Mission: This shelter assists the homeless population in Middletown. Volunteers will be expected to cook a meal and serve it to the Men’s homeless shelter
- Students will develop the following skills:
- Teamwork, assigning tasks, culinary and food prep safety
Every 2nd Monday from 3:00pm-6:15pm
- MetroParks of Butler County: As a volunteer for MetroParks of Butler County, you are supporting your local recreational areas, conservation and restoration efforts, educational programs, and more for our community now and for generations to come. Our opportunities offer experiences in projects and programs like invasive species removal, farm animal care, trail maintenance, nest box monitoring, garden management, historical interpretation, and more.

- New Life Furniture: All sales at New Life Furniture Thrift Store support Southwest Ohio’s only Furniture Bank, New Life Furniture Bank. New Life Furniture Bank is a non-profit (501c3) organization located in Blue Ash, OH. New Life Furniture Bank collects gently used furniture and delivers it to people overcoming homelessness, domestic abuse, extreme poverty or other devastating circumstances.

- In Center Opportunities: Every other Thursday, there is an in-center service opportunity. The 1st Thursday of the month is preparing supplies for Community Meal Partners. The 3rd Thursday of the month is disassembling bikes for Bicycle Recycle.

- Community Building Institute: At CBI, teens will volunteer by having meaningful interactions with the younger students that attend this afterschool program. Activities range from crafts, gym games, life skills, and more!

- Hope’s Closet: Hope’s Closet is a community of volunteers, donors, staff, and board members who believe childhood should be hopeful, regardless of circumstance. We work together to provide quality clothes and essentials, fun experiences, and loving support for foster children and foster parents.

This includes blanket making, preparing tags and assembling Blessing Bags, making beaded bracelets for foster children, and much more! - Complete our Letterhead Request Form.
- Please allow our team at least 2 business days to complete your request after you have volunteered and filled out the forms
